You may think festival season is all but over in Montreal, that all the hype music events have sadly come and gone. But fear not, because there is still one more major bash hitting the city and you don’t want to miss it. Even better, it’s on the island and offers so much more than a few overplayed DJs all playing at the same time. La Bacchanale is coming.
For the first time ever, the Old Port is hosting a 3-day electronic music festival, and not one that pussies out at 11pm either. That’s right, party until 3am at Montreal’s Clock Tower and Hangar 16 to some of the freshest techno and house music this side of the Atlantic.
The ultimate goal is to make La Bacchanale “a nomad festival, offering a Utopian alternative to our current urban unrest, ” says organizers, and it also comes with a whole range of multidisciplinary entertainment that goes beyond just the sound wave. On top of 3 different dance floors, each with its own unique vibe, the amazing venue that is the the Clock Tower basin will also feature a restaurant and food trucks, and the event will also offer fire-spitters, circus acrobats, live street art, hair cuts, massages, and even some yoga, for free.
With 3 stages, and 30 local and international DJs on the lineup, the theme for this year’s La Bacchanale event is “Ancient Future” and it promises to be wild. Not their first rodeo, organizers of La Bacchanale have been responsible for many of your favourite underground events over the last two years, and while this will be their biggest party yet and anything but underground, we’ve been assured that La Bacchanale will be remain 0% EDM and 100% P(L)UR.
