NYC Music festivals 2014

If there’s one thing New Yorkers know how to do well – and they, in fact, know how to do many things well – it’s throw themselves a rockin’ New York festival. With so many people living in this always-hopping metropolis, finding a festival in New York can be as easy as ambling down the nearest block, and include massive food festivals, crazy popular film festivals, boisterous outdoor music festivals, and everything in-between.

The New York Film Festival in September is one of the most famous and prestigious in the country, but this city being so big you also have tons of stellar niche film festivals like the NYC Food Film Festival in October and the Big Apple Film Festival in November, to say nothing of that little Tribeca Film Festival in Manhattan that Robert De Niro helped found after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

From the sexy Burlesque Festival to the chichi Wine and Food Festival, there’s always a reason to get out and be festive in NYC. Major parks like Central Park and Prospect Park host killer jazz, blues, and all other sorts of music festivals throughout the year, and also play key roles in big outdoor theater festivals that give struggling actors who aren’t thrilling audiences on Broadway a shot at some action.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is kind of a big deal, attracting more than 2.5 million people and another 44 million who tune in to watch the balloons, floats, bands and celebrities in the most spectacular Thanksgiving holiday celebration in the country.
