I don't know if a lot of people on Imgur are into folk music, but it's my jam.
So, I thought I'd share some artists that I think deserve some attention. If you want specific song suggestions from the artists let me know. This pic is a still from "Inside Llewyn Davis". This isn't technically one of the artists, but the music in the movie is really good. Oscar Isaac kills it, and Dave Van Ronk is the man.
The Oh Hellos
This is a large folk group that doesn't have much out yet, but what they do have is amazing. I'm going to see them next weekend, and I cannot wait.
Michael Kiwanuka
Michael Kiwanuka has one of the most soulful voices I've ever heard. His songs fit pretty much any mood.
Milk Carton Kids
A lot of their music is slower, but that doesn't mean it's bad by any stretch. I saw these guys live a bit ago, and they were two of the most talented musicians and funniest people I've ever seen.
Fleet Foxes
Pretty well known, but they're my favorite. If you don't know them, I highly recommend taking a listen. They rock my world.
Aldous Harding
This one is a bit more obscure and has a polarizing voice, but if you like her you'll love her. I've listened to the song "Hunter" on repeat like it's my job.
River Whyless
The harmonies in their music, paired with the simply beautiful music, is what this kind of music is all about. So underrated and so good.
Johnny Flynn
I don't even know what to say because Johnny Flynn is just too good. His albums "A Larum" and "Country Mile" are two of my absolute favorites.
Brown Bird
I cannot stress enough how amazing this band is. Their sound is so unbelievably unique and innovative. Unfortunately, the husband of the husband and wife duo died about a year ago of leukemia. Their story is wonderful, and their music is stunning.
Murder by Death
Not a heavy metal band. The guy looks 30-something, but he sounds like an 80-year-old smoker. Even if you're not into this kind of music this much, they're worth a listen just to see this guy sing.
